SICKSTITCHES

Our quest to sort out the crap English charts
Sickstitches are a great young band for the future. The band are: David Winter, 16 - lead vocals, Tim Titherington, 15 - guitar, Chester Harland, 15 - Bass and Andrew Winter, 15 - percussion. Chester Harland has recently been appointed bassist due to comunicational problems with Laurie, although Chester is still learning bass so taking his place for the moment is guitarist Tim's brother Chris. He will probably be playing with us at our next gig (see bottom of 'our gigs')We all live in East Sussex in England and we all attend Hailsham comunity college appart from David who recently finished and is now doing a college music course. We formed in 1997 spurred on by the huge amount of grunge bands which had formed in school. We were fed up with the Nirvana craze so we wanted something different. Our first band name was Paranoia and we were a covers band. We did mainly death metal and Sepultura music but our style has changed significantly since then. We have had many other band names such as Bombscare and Strapnel but we came up with Sickstitches and we all liked it. We have also gone through many other band members but after a while we came up with the just - about perfect formula. We have had different drummers, bassists and for a while David played guitar and even bass. We had no bassist for a while. After doing covers for a long while, we began doing our own songs and we now have about 15 of our own.

Our gigs:
Our first gig was in a church in Hailsham to raise money for charity. We didn't even have a stage! We played absolutely crap but we got a great crowd reaction. David really got the crowd going. We have also played in a school festival called the Gelifest, twice, and we have organised two other gigs in Herstmonceux, which we have supported another band named Nothing to prove. In all our gigs we have been prone to having something go wrong like a guitar string snap or the drum kit falling over. We are well known for always getting a great crowd reaction even if we play bad, which is what makes us a good live band. We have recently completed another gig which we headlined for the first time! It was in the Herstmonceux village hall, where we played our last two gigs, in East sussex. The tickets were 1 pound and all the money went to go to the Kosovo refugee fund. It was on the 16th of July and started at 6:00pm until 10:00pm. The support bands were: The Flying Fudge Monkeys, and Braindead. All the bands there are local young bands. It was quite a successful gig, appart from the usual equipment mishaps, but we managed to raise 100 quid for the Kosovo reffugee fund, which was great! Our next gig will be about November time in conjunction with David's birthday. Look out for more details soon, or e mail me and i'll tell you what i know!
